Restart Ready Training Ltd is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all learners, staff, and participants. We recognise our responsibility to provide a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for everyone who engages with our services.

 

This policy applies to all staff, tutors, volunteers, contractors, and anyone working on behalf of Restart Ready Training Ltd.

3. Definitions

​

Safeguarding: Protecting individuals’ health, wellbeing, and human rights, enabling them to live free from abuse, harm, and neglect.

 

Vulnerable Adult: An adult who may be at increased risk of harm due to factors such as mental health challenges, learning difficulties, disability, illness, social circumstances, or financial hardship.

4. Types of Abuse and Harm

Restart Ready recognises the following forms of abuse and harm:

 

  • Physical abuse

  • Emotional or psychological abuse

  • Sexual abuse

  • Financial or material abuse

  • Neglect or acts of omission

  • Discriminatory abuse

  • Domestic abuse

  • Exploitation (including modern slavery and coercion)

5. Safeguarding Roles and Responsibilities

Safeguarding Lead

Restart Ready Training Ltd has a designated Safeguarding Lead responsible for:

 

  • Receiving and managing safeguarding concerns

  • Making referrals to appropriate authorities where necessary

  • Maintaining confidential safeguarding records

  • Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed

6. Safer Recruitment

​

Restart Ready Training Ltd is committed to safer recruitment practices, including:

 

  • Appropriate identity checks

  • Right-to-work checks

  • Enhanced DBS checks where required

  • Verification of qualifications and experience

All staff working with learners are expected to uphold professional boundaries at all times.

​

7. Recognising Safeguarding Concerns

​

Safeguarding concerns may include:

 

  • Changes in behaviour or mood

  • Signs of distress, anxiety, or withdrawal

  • Disclosure of abuse or harm

  • Poor attendance linked to personal circumstances

  • Financial or housing difficulties impacting wellbeing

​

Learners are encouraged to speak to a tutor or safeguarding contact if they feel unsafe or concerned.

​

8. Reporting Safeguarding Concerns

​

If a safeguarding concern arises:

 

  1. The concern must be reported immediately to the Safeguarding Lead

  2. The Safeguarding Lead will assess the concern and take appropriate action

  3. Where necessary, referrals will be made to:

    • Local Authority Adult Safeguarding Teams

    • Social Services

    • Police or emergency services

    • Relevant support organisations

Confidentiality will be maintained, except where disclosure is required to protect an individual from harm.

​

9. Online and VR Safeguarding

​

Restart Ready recognises the importance of safeguarding in digital and VR environments.

 

We ensure:

 

  • Clear guidance on appropriate behaviour in virtual learning spaces

  • Supervised VR use where appropriate

  • Prompt action if learners experience distress or discomfort

  • Safe and respectful communication standards

​

Learners can stop or pause VR activities at any time.

​

10. Prevent Duty

​

Restart Ready Training Ltd is committed to the Prevent Duty and works to:

 

  • Promote tolerance, respect, and inclusion

  • Challenge extremist views appropriately

  • Report concerns related to radicalisation or extremism in line with statutory guidance

​

11. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

 

Safeguarding is embedded within our commitment to equality and diversity.

We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or victimisation of any kind.

12. Confidentiality and Record Keeping

Safeguarding records are:

 

  • Stored securely

  • Retained in line with legal and regulatory requirements

Information is shared only on a need-to-know basis.

13. Training and Awareness

All staff and tutors:

 

  • Receive safeguarding awareness training

  • Are familiar with this policy and reporting procedures

  • Understand their responsibilities in protecting learners
